Based on the musical of the same name, the film Chicago starred Catherine Zeta-Jones and Renée Zellweger as the iconic Velma Kelly and Roxie Hart. The movie musical incorporates classic Bob Fosse choreography which translated almost seamlessly from the stage to the big screen. Also, the dance that Velma and Roxie do together at the end of the movie is the perfect duet to try to learn with your bestie.

The protagonist and title character, 11-year-old Billy Elliot, could literally dance circles around most of us. Set in England in 1984, the movie follows Billy as he ditches boxing and enrolls in a ballet class to follow his real passion. This film actually has a great message, as it reminds us that we should always be true to ourselves no matter what.

In this flick, we watch the burgeoning romance blossom between buttoned-up lawyer John Clark, played by Richard Gere, and his dance teacher Paulina, played by Jennifer Lopez. What ensues is a magical foray into the world of ballroom dance. Not only is it one of the best dance movies ever, it's one of JLo's best films, too.

When it comes to this quirky movie, some love it, some hate it. But we can all agree that Showgirls is a pretty accurate portrayal of the life of a Vegas showgirl. The movie shows the hard work, hard choices, and hard realities that Nomi Malone (played by Saved by the Bell's Elizabeth Berkley) must face if she wants to be a star.

We've got to include this computer-animated cartoon in our list of best dance movies. It chronicles the story of a young orphan (voiced by Elle Fanning) who gets into a dance school in Paris and sets out to follow her dream of becoming a professional dancer, against all odds. The heartwarming film emphasizes the importance of not only having technique, but having passion.

Set against the glamour backdrop of Manhattan, this modern dance film tells the story of a privileged ballerina who falls in love with a struggling violinist. It culminates, of course, with a dance competition.

Johnson has said of writing the script he wanted it to be character based rather than focus on the mechanics of time-travel. He drew inspiration from movies such as The Terminator, 12 Monkeys, and Witness. One of the best screenplays to read if you love mixing sci-fi with ironic humor and time-travel.

This script was born purely out of budgetary restrictions as writers Whannell and Wan deliberately wanted to write a horror film as cheaply as possible. One that they could finance themselves. Inspired by low-budget movies such as Pi and The Blair Witch Project, they decided on the concept of two actors, one room, and one dead body. Easily one of the best screenplays to read for horror writers.

BONUS SCREENPLAYS TO READ: You can download five more of the best screenplays to read in each genre in this post. Read as many movie scripts as you can and watch your screenwriting ability soar.

I read the screenplay to one of my favourite horror movies and one of my recent favourite mvoies, IT (2017). I really would like to read the full screenplay to IT Chapter Two (2019). any chance you guys could find and upload it for me, please?

THANK YOU SO MUCH! I was looking for a PDF of the script for The Others and found your page. Reading the titles of the scripts you have culled here made my heart sing with the love of cinema that started my long journey into the film biz. Recently I have been pessimistic and disheartened about the lack of quality films coming out these days. But looking at these titles made me feel totally invigorated and optimistic.

Hi, I really need Stonewall movie script. Can you help me how to get that? I am having difficult where I can get that. I am gona make analyze about that film as my rules to graduate at mu school. You can email me

These days, musical movies can sometimes be hit or miss: For as many crazy, joyful, ridiculous-in-the-best-way films like Mamma Mia (don't worry, it's on here) that exist in the world, there's...whatever Cats was (definitely not on the list). But when it's good, it's spectacular. Modern artists have taken the form and played with it, so it doesn't necessarily have to sound and look like a play come to life. That's especially true of the past few years, which have seen icons including Lin-Manuel Miranda giving us some of their best work.

From the most classic musicals to melodic feel-good movies, this list has just about everything you could want as a musical fan. These are the musicals that impacted not just us, but also the pop culture world. These timeless movies are the musicals you can turn on again and again. And while we can guarantee these films will make you want to sing, not every musical is bright and cheery so we've arranged this list by subgenre for whatever sing-along mood you may be in. Without further ado, here are 56 iconic musicals spanning more than eight decades that are not to miss, featuring the most epic duets, dance sequences, and jazz hands of all time.

Liza Minnelli takes center stage in this musical film that put her on the map (it swept up eight Oscars in its day). She plays a young American cabaret singer performing at the Kit Kat Klub in Nazi-era Berlin who gets caught up in a love triangle with a British academic and a German playboy.

Known for its iconic dance scenes with umbrellas, this Gene Kelly film depicts the upheaval in the entertainment industry over the transition from silent films to "talkies" when two silent movie stars join the cast of a musical.

Yet another umbrella-heavy song-and-dance musical, this bittersweet French film follows a young Catherine Deneuve, who works at a boutique selling umbrellas. She falls in love with a mechanic and gets pregnant, but has to move on without him when he gets drafted into the Algerian War.

You're probably familiar with this musical's most famous song, "Oh, What a Beautiful Morning," (opens in new tab) composed by legendary duo Oscar Hammerstein II and Richard Rogers. The plot involves a country girl caught in a love triangle between a farm hand and a cowboy, and drew inspiration from the play Green Grow the Lilacs. There's nothing quite like the movie adaptation.

The story of a magical nanny who can turn every chore into a game launched Julie Andrews into stardom and has since become one of Disney's most well-known stories. Full of catchy songs, lively dance numbers, and fun animation, this musical is one film that fully captures the magic of Disney.

This film about the life of Elton John combines the best of a dramatic biopic and a classic movie musical, with the singer's legendary performances mixed with trippy scenes of a crowd floating as he plays at a club or a festival flash mob joining in on "Saturday Night's Alright (For Fighting)". It's one of the best musician life stories you'll see, even if you only know one or two of the Rocket Man's songs.

Okay, yes, the film is technically about Anna Kendrick's Beca as the reluctant a cappella singer, but the true joy of this film is the artistry at work on screen. We catch a glimpse of a multitude of singers and groups with killer harmonies, and the music celebrates that love and energy. There's a reason this spawned two (not as good) sequels.

Nothing but love and respect for the first Sister Act (1992), but the sequel might be one of the best musical films of all time. Whoopi Goldberg reprises her role as lounge singer turned nun Sister Mary Clarence, this time helping St. Francis Academy stay open by turning her class of rowdy teenagers into a legit show choir, and a young Lauryn Hill also stars in the film as a moody student with powerhouse vocals. Let's not forget about the choir's incredible remix of "Joyful, Joyful," (opens in new tab) which, honestly is the most lit rendition of the Christmas class ever to be made.

The fourth (and arguably the best) remake of the 1937 film is co-written and directed by Bradley Cooper and stars none other than Lady Gaga. It's about a hard-drinking musician (Cooper) who discovers and falls in love with a young singer (Gaga), and her rise to stardom. Gaga is a force in this film, delivering a performance that will break your heart. This is not the most "light-hearted" fare, relative to others on this list, but the music is good enough to look past that. Check out content warnings beforehand if you don't know the plot.

A movie, based on a musical, based on a bunch of songs by The Proclaimers. This is the sweet story of two veterans who go home and deal with familial and romantic entanglements. An early vehicle for George Mackay (1917), the film's tender at its core and filled with talented people. Just wait until the characters get to their rendition of "I'm Gonna Be (500 Miles)."

Even if you were a theater kid growing up, a Disney animated film was probably your first movie musical, with the fun and heartfelt songs inspiring you to sing along. The House of Mouse's latest smash hit, about a young woman coming of age in a magical (opens in new tab) family (opens in new tab) in Colombia, reminds all of us that the love of these films goes far beyond childhood, and a great song can make you cheer or sob at any age (and even chart on Billboard!!).

The Disney musical follows the journey of a popular jock who finds his love and his voice, much to the displeasure of his friends and family. HSM was so successfully that it spawned two sequels as well as a number of spinoffs. And yes, we still know the choreography to "We're All in This Together."
